Fu Shang is a demon hunter of the Fu family, a position of great prestige. He is admired by all and makes demon hunting his life's mission.

After the snake clan was wiped out, Fu Shang found a snake egg among the ruins and raised the last surviving member of the clan to serve as his follower.

Everyone thought Fu Shang was courting disaster by raising a snake, but the snake carried out his duties to the letter and obeyed Fu Shang's every order. He was more like a loyal dog.

As time passed, people began to feel sorry for the snake, because Fu Shang's blood ran colder than any snake's.

When Fu Shang was gravely injured and needed snake blood to survive, he took it coldly and said it was what the snake was supposed to do.

When Fu Shang was ambushed and imprisoned, he ordered the snake demon to take a blade for him without a second thought, saying it was his duty.

Even after the snake demon was injured in Fu Shang's place, Fu Shang couldn't be bothered to spare him a glance.

But no one knew that late at night, when a death curse tormented Fu Shang until he could barely stand it, he would order the snake demon through red-rimmed eyes and tearful pleas to help suppress the curse.

The snake demon obeyed without question, but once was never enough.

After the Nth time, the snake demon came to Fu Shang of his own accord one day, defying his orders.

Afterward, Fu Shang was furious and kicked the snake demon off the bed. "You bastard! How dare you defy your master?!"

Fu Shang didn't know that the loyal dog he'd spent years raising would one day bare his fangs and tear him to shreds, leaving nothing behind.
