Xiao Hanzhou signed a peace treaty with the Shang Kingdom. To ensure Shang kept its word, the Shang crown prince was sent to Xiao Hanzhou as a hostage for one year.
Shang Shiyu was treated as an honored guest in Xiao Hanzhou and was never neglected. During that year, she met and grew close to Princess Yun Zhi, gradually developing feelings for her, though she thought of Yun Zhi as a younger sister.
Yun Zhi was equally drawn to Shang Shiyu. After a year together, she fell in love with her. Just as she was about to confess her feelings, she accidentally fell into the water and was rescued by Shang Shiyu. This accident also revealed Shang Shiyu's true identity to her.
