The winter after Luan Xia started high school, she developed a strange illness.
She couldn't attend class in a warm, sealed classroom. Instead, she had to carry her chair out to the chilly, well-ventilated hallway and struggle to breathe in fresh air.
Winter was cold, and Luan Xia was always cold, too.
The bell rang. A figure blocked her view. A boy came running over, panting, but looking displeased.
"If you want to get sick, don't do it right in front of me," he said gruffly, shoving the hot-water bottle he'd been keeping inside his coat into her hands before turning and heading back to class.
That winter was bitterly cold, but Luan Xia felt that she could keep up her secret crush a little longer.
