Blurb:
Everyone knows that Petunia loves her younger sister. From the very first day she met her, Petunia vowed to protect Lily.
But recently, she realized that her sister seemed to be dating someone.
Petunia: "Hey, Sev, you don't like that guy either, do you?!"
Petunia: "Let's go teach him a lesson! If anything happens, I'll take the blame."
Snape: "...?"
Snape: "...I suspect you want me to take the fall, but I have no proof."
James: "Why am I the one getting hurt??"
Second-edited blurb, with angst
It was only when she received news of Lily's death that Petunia realized how important her sister was to her.
The funeral was grand. The Potter family were considered heroes who had defeated Voldemort, and many people attended. Their words were full of praise, but there were also those who hated the Potter family and the so-called Chosen One, cursing them under their breath.
As dusk approached, people gradually began to leave, until Petunia was the only one left.
The sky grew darker, and a light rain began to fall. Petunia seemed not to notice. She knelt before Lily's grave, her tears long since spent. As she looked at the black-and-white photograph, she realized that the last time she'd seen Lily smile had been at their seventh-year graduation. She hadn't even noticed how much time had passed.
After graduation, the sisters had fallen out. Lily was determined to marry James Potter, a member of a pure-blood family, while Petunia wanted to go to university with her sister after they graduated.
Who knew whether that Potter had used a love potion on her? The Potter family was one of the Sacred Twenty-Eight, a pure-blood family through and through. At the time, the Dark Lord Voldemort and the white wizard Dumbledore were locked in a stalemate, and the Potters had yet to declare their position. If Lily got caught up in it, she would be in grave danger.
Petunia worried for Lily's safety, but Lily believed that love had to be put to the test.
After that, everything changed.
James Potter, as heir to his family, joined Dumbledore and the Order of the Phoenix to protect his family and his wife, and because it was the Gryffindor thing to do.
Petunia was still angry with her sister and didn't even attend her wedding. Her sister changed her name to Lily Potter, was welcomed into the Potter family, and went to live with her husband in Godric's Hollow.
Petunia had thought the two sisters would remain at odds forever, but then terrible news shattered the stalemate.
The child of prophecy appeared. Voldemort's curse, Lily's protection and sacrifice: these were all unpredictable events, and they all came to pass.
Back in the present, the rain had grown heavier. Petunia realized that someone had come up beside her and was holding an umbrella over her.
She turned her head slightly and finally saw who it was: Dumbledore.
The old man, kindly yet a little stern in her memories, stood with her without trying to comfort her.
A few hours later, she sat on the sofa in the headmaster's office with a cup of hot cocoa in her hands. She saw the so-called Chosen One, the child Lily had died to protect, carried in by Professor McGonagall.
The child was only a year old, still wrapped in swaddling clothes, but it was already clear how much he looked like his father. The sight made Petunia feel uncomfortable and disgusted.
But when she saw the child's eyes, she froze.
In the end, she agreed to Dumbledore's request and adopted Harry Potter.
But that wasn't the end of it.
She couldn't let her sister die so easily.
