[Delicate young woman x rugged man / married first, love later / height and build difference]
In the final years of the Great Wei dynasty, warlords competed for supremacy, great families jockeyed for power, and wars raged without end as the royal clan gradually declined.
As a princess of Great Wei, Xiao Jin'er felt she ought to save the Wei dynasty, restore the realm, and shoulder the responsibility of reviving the nation.
When she heard that the Heavenly Wolf Star had appeared in the northwestern desert and that obtaining it could resolve Great Wei's turmoil, her elder brother urged her to go to the desert and find a way to save the country.
So the little princess packed up and left the capital.
Who knew?
She had barely left the capital when Great Wei fell.
Overnight, Xiao Jin'er went from a pampered little princess to a fugitive with nowhere to go.
But she didn't lose heart. She silently wiped away her tears and changed her goal from saving the country to restoring it, traveling far into the desert to seek the Heavenly Wolf Star.
One day, her pursuers finally caught up with her.
The panicked little princess fled into a field and, in desperation, stamped her feet and begged a simple farmer working the land to help her.
"Big brother, please be kind and save me. I'll reward you handsomely afterward!"
Looking at the seedlings he'd just planted, now trampled to pieces, the farmer was speechless.
After a long pause, he leaned on his hoe and looked over at her. His handsome brows held the hint of a smile as he replied unhurriedly, "I can save you. No need for a big reward."
The little princess thought she'd met a good person. She beamed and was about to thank him when he added:
"But you'll have to give yourself to me."
The little princess assessed the situation and decided to feign surrender. She planned to pack up and escape once the danger had passed.
But who could have guessed she'd discover that the man was the very Heavenly Wolf Star she'd been searching for!
At first, the little princess found him poor as a church mouse, with nothing but the clothes on his back. He had no learning, couldn't read a single character, had no idea how to be considerate, and was always scowling. He was nothing like the ideal husband she'd imagined.
But the responsibility of restoring the country still rested on her shoulders...
The little princess glanced at the man. The memory of that night was still vivid: her hand stroking his veined arm, her palm damp with sweat, while he held her tightly.
The little princess blushed and reluctantly said,
"How about we just keep living like this?"
