Doctor * Lawyer

Chen Zhiyi gets caught up in a medical malpractice lawsuit after an accident, facing public opinion and pressure from her superiors.

With nothing left to lose, she spends all her savings to hire a top lawyer, only to come face-to-face with her ex-boyfriend, Li Chu, whom she dumped back in their school days.

Years have passed. The tall, aloof man has long shed the naivete of his youth, and now carries himself with the cool composure of someone in power.

He looks at Chen Zhiyi and asks casually, "Are you sure you want to choose me?"

Things ended badly between them back then, and Chen Zhiyi doesn't think Li Chu has any reason to help her.

But the man grabs her wrist and pulls her into his arms, lowering his voice as he demands, "Chen Zhiyi, have you ever once thought about choosing me without hesitation?"

Li Chu works overtime for days on her case, so Chen Zhiyi brings him a meal at his law firm.

His assistant mistakes her for an ordinary walk-in client without an appointment and leaves her waiting outside for over three hours.

After his meeting ends, Li Chu sees the lunchbox and hurries after her, but his assistant quickly stops him. "That client left a while ago."

Li Chu's expression turns cold. In an even tone, he says, "She's not a client. She's the person I love."

Everyone else at the firm exchanges stunned glances, unable to hide their shock.

At home, Li Chu holds Chen Zhiyi and coaxes her. "Tomorrow, I'll go to the hospital and wait three hours for an appointment with you too, okay?"

The truth comes to light.

Chen Zhiyi is a dedicated and decisive doctor. Without her, that patient would never have survived.

A reporter interviews them: "Doctor Chen, when you were caught up in a lawsuit and someone turned around and blamed you, why did you risk so much to treat a stranger?"

Chen Zhiyi gathers her coat around herself. "Saving lives is a doctor's duty."

The microphone turns to Li Chu. "Lawyer Li, why did you help Doctor Chen when she was caught in a storm of public opinion?" The reporter borrows Chen Zhiyi's words. "Was it because of a lawyer's duty..."

"No." Li Chu smiles. "I did it because of her."
