A recommendation for my long-form BE novel, Spring's End, which is available for advance collection, and my completed novels, The Wind Stops, but the Longing Remains and Love Without a Sound. Also, my friend's completed novel, Shameless, by Wen Lu.
This story feels like a failure. It has lots of trigger points and isn't very good. I only joined the promotion slot to promote an upcoming novel, so please don't waste your money. Go read something by another author instead.
Qi Xin loved Cheng Qiyue for six years. She thought she'd get what she wanted, but in the end, she realized that his heart would always belong to that one woman he could never forget.
"I'm your girlfriend," Qi Xin said, trying to make him stay.
Cheng Qiyue replied impatiently, "She got drunk, so I'm going to pick her up. Is there a problem?"
Qi Xin watched the man walk away without looking back. She gave a soft laugh, sent him a breakup message, and blocked every way he could contact her.
After the breakup, she felt relieved. Though she never drank, she got completely drunk. In a daze, she clung to her best friend's older brother and cried, "I want to sleep in his arms because he's way better-looking than that dog."
The man she was clinging to wore an expressionless face. His eyes were dark and unreadable as he lowered his gaze to study the woman who had said he was better-looking than a dog.
At one of his sister's matchmaking events, Chen Jinlin and Qi Xin were both there. The man raised an eyebrow and said what he'd been planning to say for a long time: "Is anyone pursuing you now? If not, can I pursue you?"
Qi Xin's eyes widened, and her face turned faintly red. She asked in disbelief, "Jin... Jinlin-ge, you like me?"
Later, Cheng Qiyue realizes how wonderful Qi Xin is and tries to win her back.
At a friend's wedding, Cheng Qiyue presses Qi Xin for an answer: "Qi Xin, you didn't mean what you just said, right? You're still single, aren't you? You don't have a boyfriend, do you?"
Qi Xin replies coldly, "You can have one, so why can't I? Just because you're allowed to date, that doesn't mean I'm not allowed to find someone new."
Cheng Qiyue looks flustered. "Xin Xin, you're joking, right? How could you possibly have a boyfriend?"
Soon, a tall, elegant man appears and stands beside Qi Xin. His tone is icy as he says to Cheng Qiyue, "Why should you care about my girlfriend?"
Content warning: The heroine is a little too attached to the wrong man early on. She only comes to her senses later, and that's when she stops liking the jerk.
Introduction to Spring's End:
In Class 7 of the second year of high school, word spreads that a handsome, gentle-looking boy has transferred in. It takes less than a day for Sheng Yanshuang, a notorious heartbreaker, to set her sights on him.
Sheng Yanshuang casually says, "Like me for a while, and I'll protect you for the rest of your life. What do you say?"
The boy smiles and quickly agrees. "Okay."
Later, the heartbreaker really does fall for the boy, and Jiang Yan willingly becomes her devoted admirer.
She met him during the best years of her youth. Her love for him was passionate and bold, not just a burst of youthful enthusiasm, nor a passing infatuation.
Young love is innocent and pure. Just hearing the words "I like you" can make your heart race. Jiang Yan was one of those people. He couldn't resist Sheng Yanshuang's warmth and sunny charm. To him, her arrival was like the sun, illuminating his lonely, desolate life.
--
Years later, at a class reunion, Sheng Yanshuang sees Jiang Yan again. She is full of anticipation at the thought of meeting the boy he once was, but all she gets from the man is a cold, "Do we know each other?"
Sheng Yanshuang can only shake her head, her heart aching. It turns out she'd lost her boy long ago.
The boy she met in her youth is etched in her heart, becoming an unfulfilled wish she's carried for years.
Later, when spring comes in 2021, her boy remains behind in that spring, never to wake again.
All that remains is his one and only diary.
The last line reads:
"I've made many wishes. May you bloom like fireworks and live a happy, brilliant life. Life is like a play. I've been there for many of your important moments, but you never noticed."
A slice-of-life story. The heroine is a confident, self-respecting girl, and the hero is a quiet, taciturn boy. BE.
