[Revising, so please bookmark with caution]
Twelve years after the war, Mulan enlisted in the army in her father's place once again.
This time, she only wanted to quietly be a slacker living off the government's pay.
But reality always had a way of bringing her back down to earth.
Military training:
The instructor glared. "Cadet, tell me what you're doing."
"Reporting in," Mu Lan said, taking a bite of compressed rations before hopping out of the corner where she'd been hiding for ages. "Tactical evasion."
Military exercise:
"Instructor, I'm reporting her. She just lay there and won!"
"Reporting in, it was a strategic decision!" Mu Lan frowned. She thought she'd been pretty serious today.
The instructor continued to glare. "If you have a teammate who lets you win by lying down on the battlefield, congratulations! And don't try to get away with anything. If you cheat, you'll run ten laps around the track."
Real combat:
"Soldier, change of strategy. Return to your unit at once!"
"Reporting in." Mu Lan tightened the bandage and tied it off. "I swear to hold my post to the death."
"I order you to bring your people back once the operation is over. If you're missing even one hair, forget about your bonus."
"I'll complete the mission!"
Though she couldn't fulfill her own dreams, Mu Lan felt it was worth becoming a brave little soldier who helped protect the dreams of so many others.
1. The story focuses on the plot, with little romance. It's about a slacker being pushed forward.
2. A hodgepodge space-age setting full of references and flights of fancy, not intended to withstand close scrutiny, with lots of original worldbuilding.
3. Updated daily.
Theme: People who work toward the dream of world peace are the loveliest
Joshua seems like a good name, I've come across several novels with this name
I think it's interesting, but it's so short. I'll keep it up. Come on, author!
