At the LPL quarterfinals, everyone was stunned when veteran team WH lost to newcomers YG. Neither WH’s fans nor the team itself could believe it. As tradition dictated, the winning team was supposed to approach the losing team and shake hands. YG captain Shen Yan held out his hand.
“Second place forever, just as expected. Oh, wait, I forgot. You’re not even second place now.” WH captain Xie Shi was stunned by the remark. His last psychological defense crumbled. The broadcast director kept the camera on him for a full twenty seconds.
In the backstage interview area:
“What’s your next goal?”
Shen Yan took the microphone.
“To win the championship in the finals, and to have the entire WH team watch us win it.” His words sent the crowd into an uproar.
One month later.
