I won't abandon this story, and I'm very diligent about updating.
Cui Li had only recently cultivated enough to become a spirit when someone killed him with a single sword strike. His only wish before death was to be unafraid of blades and swords in his next life.
After being reborn, Cui Li discovers that he really is impervious to blades and spears. The Heavens also throw in a bonus gift: the enemy who killed him in his previous life is his father in this one!
So Cui Li decides to make life difficult for his father at every turn.
Cui Li had only wanted to follow his sect-leader father around, make trouble for him, and live a carefree life. But as soon as he joins the sect, the founding patriarch takes a liking to him, and he is suddenly elevated to the position of junior grand-uncle of the sect. From then on, his own father calls him Junior Uncle.
After his master passes away, his father leaves on a journey, and his senior brothers go out, everyone in the sect shows their true colors. They all think Cui Li has only been here for two years, so what makes him qualified to be junior grand-uncle? They show him respect to his face but sneer at him behind his back.
My senior sister has gone missing? It must be because Junior Grand-Uncle is narrow-minded.
The immortal crane has died? It must be because Junior Grand-Uncle is greedy and immoral.
Cui Li proves through sheer ability that a junior grand-uncle is still a junior grand-uncle.
And what kind of ability does he have?
Well, he charges in first, takes the nastiest beatings, endures the worst pain, and comes away with the lightest injuries!
Fortunately, he picks up a sweet, gullible fool he can trick.
Mini-scene 1
Cui Shanbai: Don't get close to fools whose origins are unknown.
Xin Haiyue: I can be A-Li's father too. Then I won't be someone of unknown origins.
Cui Li: ...
Mini-scene 2
Other people give him rouge and flowers. Xin Haiyue steals some sandalwood incense from before the Buddha and stuffs it into Cui Li's arms. "This incense smells so nice. A-Li, try it!"
Cui Li: ...
