[My next book will be another gender-disguise imperial examination story: After the Dog Emperor Gave Me a Cup of Poisoned Wine (Imperial Examinations). Blurb at the bottom!]
[Blurb]
Wen Jie transmigrates to ancient times and is raised as a boy from childhood.
Who would have thought her father would die unjustly, her mother would remarry, and her grandfather would fall gravely ill and be on the brink of death?
The family has nothing but four bare walls, no land and no fields.
She rises from licentiate to provincial graduate to jinshi, from a seventh-rank Hanlin scholar to a powerful minister second only to The Outcast.
Wen Jie has seen the sunset over a remote border town and the sunrise over the capital's imperial prison.
People have called her aloof, upright, and inflexible, and they've also called her a treacherous, deceitful wretch.
In the end, all she wants is a peaceful world, with clear rivers, calm seas, and bountiful harvests.
·
She thought there was nothing left in the world that could defeat her.
But then...
Her bold, domineering friend gets drunk, eyes wet, and grabs her by the collar to kiss her.
A young general, famed for his battlefield victories and feared by his enemies, gives her a sachet he made by hand before departing.
After she falls asleep, the emperor, lord of all under heaven, quietly reveals his love for her.
Huh? When did things go so wrong?

★ My next book will be: After the Dog Emperor Gave Me a Cup of Poisoned Wine (Imperial Examinations)
[Also known as: After Giving Up the Sword for the Brush, I Rose from an Eighth-Rank Purchased Official to a Great Chancellor]
When the cunning hare is dead, the hound is cooked. After the foreign threat and internal rebellion were brought to an end, she was sentenced to death by a cup of poisoned wine from Xiao Fang.
Shen Zhi served in the army for more than a decade and won glorious victories for the Liang Dynasty.
She and Xiao Fang had known each other since they were nobodies, and they trusted each other with their lives. Apart from her disguise as a man, she had kept almost nothing from him.
·
Shen Zhi opens her eyes and finds herself back ten years in the past, as the "illegitimate son" Shen Zheng of the capital's Shen family, who had tried and failed to take his own life.
The Shen family is a prestigious clan with a history of a hundred years, thriving descendants, and students and protégés throughout the court. In her previous life, there really had been an illegitimate son of the capital's Shen family who died unexpectedly.
She never imagined that this "illegitimate son" would be a woman, just like her.
Shen Zheng's mother, Jing Churou, was a concubine. Hoping to win her master's favor, she raised Shen Zheng as a boy from childhood. But when she suddenly fell gravely ill and realized she had little time left, she went to great lengths to buy Shen Zheng an expensive place at the Imperial College. Not long afterward, she passed away.
Even that would not have driven Shen Zheng to despair and suicide. But Shen Zheng had offended the son of the Grand Princess.
The border is often plagued by war, and the people of Dingbei are exceptionally fierce. Several county magistrates have gone there and never returned, so no one is willing or dares to serve as an official there.
A purchased place at the Imperial College does not qualify someone to serve as a county magistrate, but Shen Zheng is entrusted with an important task: as Dingbei County's deputy magistrate, she is to "administer" the magistrate's duties.
And so Shen Zhi arrives.
·
She knows Dingbei County like the back of her hand!
But this body is terribly weak. She can't wield a sword, and even walking a little too far leaves her out of breath. Still, compared to walking on eggshells and fighting for advantage in a powerful household, she'd much rather go to Dingbei County.
But no one told her that the dog emperor Xiao Fang had also come back to the past, and would be stationed in Dingbei for three years!
You can't keep watch against a thief every day. Shen Zhi decides to get away from this mess. As a purchased official, with no money and enemies already made, she has only one way out.
The imperial examinations may be fiercely competitive, but that's still better than having her identity exposed and losing her life again.
·
Shen Zhi passes the palace examination in the top three, placing third, and is appointed a compiler in the Hanlin Academy.
But the day after the final examination, Xiao Fang returns to the capital.
Wasn't this dog emperor supposed to keep guarding the frontier? How did he become crown prince so quickly?!
Her identity has been discovered.
After the two of them finally come clean, Shen Zhi throws a punch, but he catches her wrist in midair.
Xiao Fang isn't angry. Instead, he slowly pries her fingers apart one by one and presses them against his face. His grip is just firm enough to keep her from pulling away.
"A Zhi, I love you."
He tilts his head and gently rubs his cheek against Shen Zhi's palm, his voice tinged with a trembling madness.
"A Zhi, you have to love me, too."
#Reading Tips
1. Both leads are each other's only partners, one-to-one romance. Others will have unrequited feelings for the heroine.
2. Xiao Fang really is a dog, a true feudal emperor, but he never intended to give her poisoned wine.
3. The first half takes place in Dingbei County and follows the imperial examinations; the second half focuses on court politics.
4. Xiao Fang is attracted to women. After a painful struggle, he finally accepts that he has fallen for Shen Zhi, only to then discover that she isn't a man.
Theme: The fragrance of plum blossoms comes from enduring the bitter cold.
I really hate describing other people as cats or something like that. I feel like I don't treat them as an independent individual, but just as an attached object. It's so speechless. The heroine doesn't need them to be like this. Wow.
I felt that the whole article was rushed. The examination process that should be the highlight moment was briefly described. Each appearance of the male supporting character was written in detail, but the flavor was too strong. I really wanted to read the QAQ girl who was about the power of the imperial examination and was a bit naive... (I didn't mean to say anything bad about the girl). Maybe my psychological expectations were too high. This senior brother's writing is greasy, he can't really be the male protagonist, it's a bit off-putting
The author is so impatient that he doesn't even recognize him. He met him a few years ago. The ancient officials in their twenties called each other brothers and sisters as soon as they came up. Even simple modern college students would not do this.
The writing is too casual. Where the writing style is withered, the person you meet casually is the number one scholar in the country. Is the number one scholar so worthless? I always feel that it will be unreasonable in the future... It is the kind of article that writes the heroine as the number one scholar and then arranges the heroine's close friends to be the second or third prize. There is also a third person who mentions the heroine as "she", which is very funny, isn't it? They don't know that the heroine is a woman... Also, as an imperial examination document, it lacks the details to fill in the imperial examination essentials. It is too sloppy and not professional enough.
Three taels of silver is not cheap anymore. It can last for a few months for a poor person.
You talk about love, but you still can't control your lower body 🧋
Didn't you understand that the family was setting a trap for the heroine? What's the use of this set?
Song Duan is a little greasy. Are older people a little greasy?
I have read more than 80% of it now. In fact, I have left comments in other chapters. It sounds very abstract, but I really don't like this kind of male character who has more power than the female protagonist and always brings trouble to the female protagonist. Of course, in the end, they may have contributed to the heroine's career, but this does not change the fact that their behavior is disgusting. Belike Yuan Zhan designed Wen Jing to dress up as a woman, and it felt like it was just to satisfy his personal preferences. When Xu Lingru became friends with the heroine, he actually looked down on her and felt that her small family was not as good as his wealthy family. To be honest, if Xu's father hadn't collaborated with the enemy and betrayed the country, Xu Lingru would not be sure how long he would be arrogant. He said, "If he hadn't asked about Lu Youzhi, they might have been friends." How could that be possible? If he had not chosen to expose his father, he would have always relied on his identity; but if he had exposed his father, they were not friends and even had a feud. After Xu's fall, Xu Lingru's status also collapsed. No matter which way, they would not be friends. (Of course this is my personal opinion, Xu does not deserve Wen Jing's friendship). I hate him, but does he have no redeeming qualities at all? No, he chose to expose his father. He must have expected his own fate. He is indeed a patriotic and righteous person... But he only has righteousness 🧋 As for Song Duan, I was actually a little unhappy with him at first. I didn't think this guy could win at all at first. He was arrogant and couldn't control himself (actually, I wanted to say that he was a sperm in the head, and I had the same opinion about the others). But his advantages are also obvious. Compared with the others, he respects Wen Ming more and helps Wen Ming more. The thing that disgusts me the most is the emperor. To be honest, he is an extremely stereotyped novel emperor. Belike, but I can't care if you are wronged, because I have my own considerations; love, but don't care who I sleep with. In short, I also think about you when I sleep... And so on. But if he really lets the heroine go, it can be considered a human thing. As for Wen Ming, I read this novel entirely because of her. Frankly speaking, this is not the type of heroine I like... I also find some plots strange, such as Yuan forcibly pinching the face because his legs were numb? I can barely understand the emperor, he can really kill people. As for many forced plots, I personally feel that they are deliberately portraying the physical weakness of the heroine. Of course, there is a difference in strength between men and women, so it is not harmful. What I feel from this is that they really don't care about the heroine's feelings at all, at least at the moment when they choose to make such a move. In other words, they care more about themselves than the heroine's feelings. I think this is a lot. Compared with Wen Ming who feels uncomfortable about this, they care more about whether you can belong to me. She would cry when she was emotional, her family members passed away, her teacher passed away, and she grew up after crying. It is human nature to be afraid of the possibility of being discovered as a woman. I know that tears are not cowardice, and I also know that based on her friendship with Yin, it is normal for her to finally choose to believe that he will not stab him in the back. Maybe I care too much about Wen's career. When Yin found out that he was actually her, I hoped that she would never have trouble in the future. But this disregard of human life is actually not what I want to see. In fact, I felt at first that the achievements achieved by women who disguised themselves as men were always a little bit... (I can't tell, but I have a little bit of resentment, a very subtle injustice, probably because the merits are attributed to men), but in ancient times, Wen Ji would not be able to study if he didn't do this. Her teachers, friends, and classmates all helped her along the way because she was with a talented and capable man. Sometimes I think darkly, Lu Youzhi really taught everything he had and paved the way for her before his death... Then if he knew Wen If Jing is a woman, will this still happen? Men will only cherish each other, especially in ancient times... Of course, this is just my malicious conjecture. From the text, Lu Youzhi burned himself for the heroine, and the friendship between teacher and student is deep. Based on this, I have always felt that Wen Ming is lonely. She knows very well that everything she gets is indeed because of her knowledge, but it is also because she is "not a woman", so she has to keep secrets no matter who she is with, and she has to be cautious no matter who she is with. Her name is a heartthrob, but most of the love she gets is so shallow that it's not worth mentioning (except for Lu and Song Duan). If you have a secret in your heart, how can you reveal it? After being exposed, what you get will be love or a knife. It seems that we have teachers and friends along the way, but we are indeed on the same road, so it is good to have Song Duan. He has gained her trust during the long wait, and he has indeed lived up to her trust. Lin Xiangzhao, I am biased. I don't hate her, but I don't like her either. This is also because I don't want to judge her. Her love is too easy to get. Rather than criticizing her, it is better to say that women have been trapped in love. This is my first long comment, haha. The biggest feeling that this article gave me is probably that everyone has two sides, and I see different people from different standpoints. Of course, the emperor has nothing to do. Jin Yushan in the early stage is really good, but the amnesia version later is just disgusting. After regaining his memory, he is not the original Jin Yushan. After having sex with Yuan, he still thinks about Wen Ming, but this is what he did after regaining his memory 🌈
I came in when I saw that the pace was fast. I really hate the slow pace. I hope it's a treasure.
