Shane's Love Story

At seventeen, Xien de Aisveila, the duke's son, learned two things: First, he had been cursed at birth. The curse had taken hold, and he would not live to adulthood. Second, the curse could not be lifted. To appease the duke and duchess, the Empire had used forbidden magic to transfer it to another child. That other child was Ulrich, the playmate Xien had chosen from an orphanage when they were young. The curse could neither be lifted nor transferred again. The duke's son sat amid stacks of books, searching the Empire's entire collection without finding a solution. "...I'm sorry." The light-gold hair that had made the duke's son shine since childhood had grown dull and lifeless. The black-haired boy poured him a cup of tea. "I did it willingly." "My birthday is three months away," the black-haired boy said. "Young master, I have one wish." "I want to fall in love during those three months." - Ulrich's "ideal partner" had slightly wavy light-gold hair and eyes as blue as the sky. They also had to be courteous, elegant, beautiful, kind, upright, and well-read... None of the noblewomen Xien knew fit the bill. After searching in vain, the duke's son decided to take matters into his own hands. He put on a dress and wig, and played Lisa, a noblewoman who had been unable to speak since injuring her throat as a child. Then he spent three months dating Ulrich. Three months later, the Aisveila family held a funeral. - After the funeral, the curse was lifted. Everyone at the ducal estate busied themselves preparing for Young Master Xien's coming-of-age ceremony. On the eve of the ceremony, a cup of poisoned wine sent Xien back ten years. Given another chance, Xien resolved to change his childhood playmate's fate by making sure they never met. He had no idea that his childhood playmate had also been reborn. - Ulrich: I waited at the orphanage for my wife to come get me, but she never showed up. 1. Chapters are being written in advance. 2.
