After My Engagement Was Broken Off, I Ascended and Became the Heavenly Dao

"Your Majesty, it has been three days since you broke off the engagement."

"Has she admitted her mistake?"

"No. The divine official has ascended and become the Heavenly Dao."

Bai Ling had been hopelessly in love with the Heavenly Emperor Qing Zhuo for years. She thought that at long last, the clouds had parted and the moon had come out, and that she would become his empress. But on the eve of their wedding, she injured his beloved little sparrow demon.

Qing Zhuo said coldly, "If you cannot be broad-minded, then you should not become empress."

Bai Ling's heart was torn apart once more, and then it died completely.

Fine. She would no longer be part of his life.

Qing Zhuo had spoken rashly, and in his troubled state of mind, he let Bai Ling go. A few days later, he heard that the three realms of demons, monsters, and ghosts were attacking the Phoenix Clan, and raced there in a panic to save her.

But he was too late. To protect the Phoenix Clan, Bai Ling stained her purple robes with blood and perished alongside the supreme rulers of the three realms. Before dying, she finally comprehended the Great Dao, severed all love and attachment, and ascended to become the new Heavenly Dao.

The Heavenly Dao is without emotion, yet it has feelings. Those feelings are for all living beings. In her eyes, he was no different from ordinary plants, birds, or beasts.

When he saw that her gaze held not a trace of longing for him, Qing Zhuo's heart inexplicably began to ache.

Bonus scene

"Ling'er, will you pay attention to me?"

"Qing Zhuo, as the Heavenly Emperor, you should concern yourself more with the suffering of all living beings."

"I am one of those living beings too. Ling'er, won't you concern yourself with my heart?"

"...Heavenly thunder, strike."

From then on, whenever Qing Zhuo said something flirtatious, he was struck by lightning.

#He's in the crematorium. Can he still be saved?#

(Beautiful, strong, tragic Heavenly Dao x Heavenly Emperor who starts out a dog and later becomes so humble he grovels in the dust) 1v1, happy ending
