Living Next Door to the Hero of an Imperial Exam Novel (Food)

Liu Qingrong had been in ancient times for ten years before she finally realized that Zhao Yi'an, the young son of her neighbors, was the male lead of an imperial examination novel, and that her family was still the Zhao family's sworn enemy.

In the original story, Zhao Yi'an overcame a harsh and impoverished childhood and the schemes of a villain, passed the imperial examinations as the top scholar, and rose to great heights.

Meanwhile, the entire family of his sworn enemies died while fleeing a tsunami.

Question: What do you do when you and your neighbors have been sworn enemies for decades, only to discover that they're part of the protagonist's inner circle?

Can I still get on their good side now?

Answer: No hope. Just wait to die.

Liu Qingrong refuses to give up. She leads her parents in splitting away from the villainous eldest branch of the family, then uses her own two hands to build a little restaurant.

Four Happiness Meatballs, spicy cabbage, sauerkraut fish, braised chicken, drunken crab, pork belly with preserved plums...

The little restaurant has something for everyone.

But as the business goes on, why does Zhao Yi'an keep showing up around Liu Qingrong?

Liu Qingrong: "I haven't done anything to you. What are you doing?"

Zhao Yi'an: "I'm not here to break up this family. I'm here to join it."
