Hua Rongrong died a pitiful death.
In her previous life, she was a noblewoman. After her family was punished and stripped of its property, she ended up in a brothel, where her lover traded her for an insignificant official post.
On the night her family was raided, reborn amid the pouring rain, she vowed that she would live this life differently. She would no longer be a canary kept to please others, and she would never sacrifice herself for anyone again.
In her previous life, she had been deceived and had repaid kindness with betrayal. This time, she would clear her name and get justice for her family.
So she swung her blade and cut down her enemy, only to be driven up into the bandit hills as a result.
She never expected that one small change would turn her life upside down.
“This road is mine!” After becoming a bandit, she grabbed a woodcutter’s cleaver and robbed a snow-white Sword Pavilion immortal.
But the other man’s sword dripped with the blood of their pursuers. His cool gaze swept over her trembling fingertips. “Did they force you into banditry?”
Hua Rongrong glanced at her men, huddled together like quails, and swallowed. “...Yes.”
The immortal said, “Come with me to Sword Pavilion and become my disciple.”
And so, a fierce bandit somehow became an immortal. But she came from the countryside, and at Sword Pavilion she was disliked by everyone. Not a soul would give her the time of day.
The aloof and elegant elder who took her into the sect didn’t like talking to people. Her wealthy, spoiled senior brother came from a world far removed from hers and spent every day teasing her for fun. The wolf-eared sword spirit inside a broken sword had demon blood and threatened daily to devour her whole if she didn’t serve him properly...
Hua Rongrong thought she really was universally disliked.
Then a bandit stronghold outside the mountain suddenly rose to prominence. Rumors spread throughout the cultivation world that its leader had three heads and six arms and had challenged the leaders of three major sects in a row. Before long, the entire cultivation world trembled at the name of this elusive bandit!
Hua Rongrong: So I’m the bandit.
Until one day, the leader of Mutian Sect, the greatest cultivation sect in the world, came to Sword Pavilion. They said they had received word that the bandit leader was hiding inside Sword Pavilion!
The sect leader swept his imposing gaze over the disciples. Hua Rongrong stood trembling in the crowd, afraid to say a word.
She was bewildered. I’m only helping my men make a little pocket money in secret when I have time between cultivation sessions. Is that really such a big deal???
Before she could say anything, her cool and aloof master stepped in front of her protectively, her life-bound sword poised to strike. Her wealthy senior brother also brought out his powerful family name to throw his weight around...
Hua Rongrong: ??
When did she become so popular?
Then, to her surprise, the leader of Mutian Sect suddenly fell to his knees and shouted, “We beg you, great master, come out of seclusion!”
Hua Rongrong: ?
Who?
Me?
Hua Rongrong didn’t know that her taciturn master’s life-bound sword had been stained with blood from the highest heavens for her; that the Qiankun bag her wealthy senior brother had given her contained the spirit veins of half the cultivation world; or that the irreverent sword spirit had once journeyed with her to the ends of heaven and the depths of hell...
