Tsunoshima Dan thought of himself as a stray dog Tsushima Shuji had taken in.
If a stray dog became a house dog, he should put away his fangs, tuck in his tail, and devote himself wholeheartedly to his master alone.
But he didn't know that Tsushima Shuji had never liked canines.
Perhaps felines and canines simply couldn't coexist by nature?
In the final moments of his life, Tsunoshima Dan suddenly understood.

"So, how about leaving the Port Mafia and joining the Kiheitai?" After the Ability War, his senior fellow disciple, whom he hadn't seen in years, invited Tsunoshima Dan. "We should work together and tear down everything that's rotten."
Tsunoshima Dan thought it over, then firmly shook his head.
"What, still hung up on the man who stabbed you in the back?" His senior scoffed, almost exasperated. "After he defected, that man joined the Armed Detective Agency. Are you still planning to go find him?"
"Not exactly." Tsunoshima Dan's gaze darkened. "Actually, I just finished my overtime shift with the Decay of the Angel. The boss of Millefiore is still urging me to hurry up and claim the rings. Besides, the offer from the Pan Star Cult has come in several times already, and I can hardly keep turning down assignments from 'Words of the Underworld'..."
"Isn't that great?" His senior was a little displeased, but still happy for him. "You shouldn't have confined yourself to this little port city for so long."
"But if I take on too much work, there won't be anyone to look after the cat at home." Tsunoshima Dan sighed, a strange smile on his face. "It's a pet I went to so much trouble to catch, and one I treasure more than anything."
