Doting on My Younger Sister

Ming Jia was the little girl Shen Zhouyi rescued from a pile of corpses.

The girl was filthy, blood smeared across her face, but her eyes shone like stars. Once she got hold of someone, she wouldn't let go, and she followed Shen Zhouyi around every day.

The day before yesterday, she brought him pastries. Yesterday, fruit. Today, she brought him a belt she'd embroidered herself. Unfortunately, the stitches were crooked and it was terribly ugly.

Shen Zhouyi lifted her by the collar, his face full of impatience. "Little girl, has nobody ever taught you that men and women should keep their distance?"

"They have," Ming Jia said obediently. "But you're so handsome."

"..."

Later, someone saw Shen Zhouyi carrying Ming Jia home and teased him, "Shen San, you've spoiled your little sister rotten."

Shen Zhouyi waved them away, annoyed by their chatter. She was his little sister, so of course he was going to spoil her.

Later, Ming Jia was reunited with her birth family, and they were apart for years.

When they met again in the capital, Ming Jia had blossomed like a lotus, with bright, beautiful eyes, and was even engaged to a good match.

Shen Zhouyi stood among the crowd, gazing at her for a long time.

A mad thought suddenly took shape in his mind.

Why should the rose he'd nurtured since childhood be touched by someone else?

He would take her for himself.
