He was the son of the Heavenly Emperor, a Yinglong dragon in form, and served as Keeper of the Night, often keeping company with the River of Stars. The celestial realm was always cold, but Rong Yan, the newly ascended Orchid God, became the only glimmer of light in his lifeless existence.
Heaven's will was cruel, and their chance to be together was cut short. One day, he was imprisoned deep beneath the Heavenly River, suffering the torment of searing flames, all so they could tear the child from his belly while he was still alive. He fought against fate, but in the end, he was reduced to ashes.
Before his transformation, he clasped Rong Yan's hand, calm and terribly composed. "In our next life, find me and marry me, no matter... no matter where I am. You... must make them... return the life they took from our child... to me."
