Don't Sneak My Candy

The first time they met as children, Pei Yuan was sobbing as she clutched a wilted rose.

Qin Hong happened to be visiting with his parents. After being threatened and cajoled, he was forced to go comfort her.

Before he could get many words of comfort out, a string of tears had already landed on his new clothes.

Under the little girl's tearful gaze, Qin Hong folded a rose from paper, one that would never wilt.

Pei Yuan soon stopped crying.

Holding the flower, she looked at him shyly and hopefully, blinking at him. "Could I have a whole bouquet of roses?"

Qin Hong had already found folding one flower difficult and wanted to give up and go home. "..."

As they grew up, one friend after another got married.

After attending a wedding banquet, Pei Yuan went home and hid in her room, crying quietly by herself.

Qin Hong pulled her out from under the covers and asked with a frown, "What's wrong?"

Sniffling, Pei Yuan whispered, "They all have someone who likes them, someone who pursues them, someone to marry. I don't! Nobody likes me!"

Qin Hong was speechless.

He thought back to how many rivals in love he'd secretly driven off over the years, and silently reflected on just how badly he'd handled pursuing her.

With the little girl's tear-reddened eyes right before him, he wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes and coaxed her in the gentlest voice he could muster: "Then let me marry you, okay?"

Sweet, goofy, and adorable x Cunning and scheming
