I've only made 100 on this platform so far. Even so, I once scheduled my advance chapters wrong, and when I had fewer than ten followers, someone yelled at me over half a free chapter that had been posted by mistake. I told someone I thought was a close friend, and they said, "Who would bother attacking someone as obscure as you?" Then I got strange readers leaving blank-paper and newspaper comments, and when I reacted at all, people thought the author wasn't gracious enough. I still think Jinjiang is a platform with good intentions and that treats authors well when it comes to copyright, but I'm not sure I want to tie myself to other parts of it just for the copyright money everyone thinks you earn by working hard. I've always believed a work has to do with its author's effort, not with what other people say or how many people are involved. But if I keep wearing myself down here, it won't be good for my own growth, especially since writing is already what I'm best at. Maybe I'll consider ending my contract someday.
If I don't find another way to develop, I'll still come back here to write. My health was already poor, and there's no way this platform could give me a better life. Things are so bad now that even someone I once shared a complicated connection with is having a hard time, because the whole environment is so bad. I loved it, but the platform might not even know who I am. Ending my contract should be fine. The resident-author contract doesn't really concern me, either. I've met some wonderful friends, and it's time for me to start a new life.
