From the moment he was born, Huoyang had white hair and eyes of different colors, and was considered ill-omened. The Emperor gave him the name Huoyang, meaning "bring calamity to the nation and disaster to the people." He was denied the imperial surname and left out of the imperial genealogy.
Who could have known that years later, the Emperor would die of a mysterious illness, and his final decree would name Huoyang, who had endured abuse in the palace and lived worse than a servant, as his successor?
The first to kneel before the new emperor were also the most powerful men at court: the youngest chancellor in recent history, a general famed throughout the land, and a regent with influence reaching everywhere.
*
That year, amid heavy snowfall, Huoyang knelt on the road the chancellor was sure to take, clad in a thin white robe. Snow covered his shoulders, and blood trickled from his right eye. Seeing the chancellor approach, he pressed his forehead to the ground and said in a trembling voice, "My lord, save me."
That year, the general won a great victory, and a banquet was held at the palace. As he left to sober up, Huoyang, dressed in red, stumbled into his arms. His eyes sparkled as he looked up and asked cautiously, "General, would you like a cup of tea to sober up?"
On the night before the Emperor's death, Huoyang looked at the regent sitting in the shadows and slowly took off his outer robes, leaving only his undergarments. "My lord, would you like to collect your reward in advance?"

Huoyang got his wish and ascended the throne. To secure his rule, he stripped the chancellor of his office, took the general's power, and dismissed the regent, keeping all authority firmly in his own hands.
When asked whether he had any affection for them, Huoyang gave a mocking laugh and replied, "It was all just an act."
His words soon reached the three men. They weren't surprised at all. Every one of them went mad.
Premise: At last, a glimpse of dawn in the darkness.
