This novel will be published on November 19.
A fatherly, scheming top student × A carefree, sunny, outgoing heroine
(The leads are both imperfect, but they're good kids.)
My next novel will be Spring in Nantang, a story about an arrogant, spoiled young master and a pitiful heroine.
My profile also has a novel in the same series, A Grain of Summer: the story of Xu Zexun and Xu Zhiyi, a bittersweet unrequited love story. Check it out and add it to your favorites if you're interested!
Jiang Zhiyu grew up with Shen Muwei, who lived next door. They climbed trees, skipped class, and sat beneath the parasol tree in the old courtyard eating popsicles.
They'd always gotten into trouble together, but Shen Muwei was still the perfect child her parents compared her to: good grades, handsome, and polite. Jiang Zhiyu hated him so much she could grind her teeth, and whenever he acted all innocent, she couldn't help snapping at him. But with the college entrance exams approaching, Shen Muwei became her unpaid tutor at home and her personal supervisor at school.
No dozing off in class.
No getting too close to boys.
No wearing a skirt when it's cold.
Jiang Zhiyu found him so annoying, but she couldn't help getting used to him and relying on him.
Under Shen Muwei's strict tutoring, Jiang Zhiyu got into a university in the same city as him. That summer, after the college entrance exams, she worked up the courage to give Shen Muwei her first kiss. But after kissing her, he refused to take responsibility, and the next day he moved out of the old courtyard without a trace.
Jiang Zhiyu was angry and hurt, and spent the whole summer feeling miserable. When she saw Shen Muwei again after the new term began, she told herself she couldn't let him push her around so easily again. But Shen Muwei was still Shen Muwei.
He won over Jiang Zhiyu's roommate and got hold of her class schedule.
He won over Jiang Zhiyu's parents and brazenly moved into her home.
He won over Jiang Zhiyu, then made up for that brief first kiss many times over.
Jiang Zhiyu had always thought of Shen Muwei as her moon, and believed she was forever chasing after him.
But in truth, she was Shen Muwei's moon, giving him light and love.
(The leads don't cross the line before graduating from high school.)
Coming soon: A bullied, pitiful heroine and a fierce little-dog hero
Jiang Qingye × Jiang Nanyi
Jiang Qingye × Jiang Nanyi
Before Nanyi changed her name to Jiang Nanyi, she lived in a house back in her hometown where only the first floor had been renovated. Every day after school, she had to ride a bus for two hours, then take a motorcycle for another twenty minutes to get home. After changing her name to Jiang Nanyi, she was driven to school every day in a private car, which pulled right into the garage of the Jiang family mansion. From there, it was just a short walk home.
A car accident left Nanyi's mother critically ill. After decades of hardship, the woman had nothing to leave her daughter except a healthy kidney. After the transplant succeeded, Nanyi followed her mother's wishes, moved into the Jiang family home, and changed her name to Jiang Nanyi.
Jiang Qingye was deeply opposed to this sudden new sister. She had the shabby air of a poor country girl, carried a handkerchief washed nearly white, and spoke timidly with her head bowed. Taking her out would embarrass the Jiang family. At school, people teased Jiang Qingye for having a country girl for a sister. At home, he was told to take good care of her. Furious, he made life difficult for Jiang Nanyi every day.
The mean Jiang Qingye loved picking on Jiang Nanyi, and Jiang Nanyi cried easily. Whenever she cried, everything turned red: her eyes, lips, cheeks, and neck. She was full of the dewy freshness unique to girls from the south, so Jiang Qingye loved teasing her even more.
"Jiang Nanyi, can't you stop crying? I'm going to get immune to all these tears."
A little dog who'd snagged a sweet, soft morsel was bound to get possessive. No one but him was allowed to bully Jiang Nanyi.
But he just couldn't stop himself from picking on her.
Jiang Qingye always assumed Jiang Nanyi had fought tooth and nail to get this comfortable life, never realizing that she studied desperately, got into college, and went on to graduate school just so she could escape a life of dependence under someone else's roof.
The day Jiang Nanyi moved out of the Jiang home, Jiang Qingye flew into a rage and smashed everything in her room. He snarled, completely out of control: "If you leave, you'll never show your face in front of me again."
Less than half a month later, he showed up at the university where Jiang Nanyi studied, pinned her against the bed with red eyes, and demanded, "Jiang Nanyi, do you really see me as nothing but a stepping-stone?"
"Jiang Nanyi, I want to tear off that fake exterior of yours and see just how hard your heart really is."
Even after being tamed, the little dog's fangs were still sharp. Jiang Nanyi cried and sobbed as he bullied her, unable to get a single word out. He held her tight, eyes bloodshot, and apologized in a low voice: "Nanyi, I'm sorry. I'm an asshole. Please stop crying, okay?"
Jiang Nanyi had never been loved. She needed love and hoped someone would love her.
Jiang Qingye loved her, but he wasn't very good at showing it.
