Has the Seventh Princess Retired Yet?

*The original blurb and central premise may be revised at any time. Ji Xian wanted to retire early, but she worked herself to death at her desk. After transmigrating as the seventh princess of Great Zhou, she thought she had finally achieved her dream of retirement: no clocking in, no all-nighters, and meals and clothes provided for her. She cherishes her life, keeps a low profile, and never causes trouble. Unfortunately, her sisters are reckless and domineering, making her seem like a model princess, gentle and virtuous. Even her imperial father rewards her with a title and a fief. Before long, noble young men are clamoring at the palace gates to marry the seventh princess. Ji Xian: ...Fine. Judging by my sisters' track records, it won't matter who I marry. My retirement plans will be just fine either way. The emperor arranges for her to marry Cui Heng, heir to the Cui clan: born to an illustrious family, with looks beyond compare. Everyone envies and praises the match. Ji Xian calmly buys up prosperous shops and farmland around Chang'an, convinced that life is peaceful and her future bright. But the name Cui Heng... why does it sound so familiar? Then the border erupts in rebellion! Tong Pass falls! Her emperor father... abandons them and runs away! The rebels are heading straight for Chang'an... What about her rent income, her retirement fund! Only then does Ji Xian realize, as if struck by lightning, that she is living in a bloody political intrigue novel! Her young brother will become a great emperor who ascends the throne as a child! And her perfect husband, Cui Heng... is the novel's most deeply scheming villain, who will eventually sweep across the land, dominate the emperor, and rule as regent?! Ji Xian takes up a blade and climbs the city wall. No one is going to stop her from retiring! Not the rebels, not her father, not her brother, and certainly not her future husband! But wait, if her husband is supposed to be the villain... then who is the famous general coming to reinforce Chang'an? Cui Heng retakes Tong Pass in the dead of night. He looks up at the woman on the city wall, disheveled but sharp-eyed. Wasn't Her Highness the seventh princess supposed to be virtuous and refined...? Theme: Striving for the life of retirement.
