A sweet girl with hearing loss x a short-tempered demon king
[Early draft of the blurb. It will be revised!]
Shen Jinye had always thought it was a good thing that Xiao Er had left the Shen family. No one would be there to keep Shen Jin in line anymore.
And no one would follow him around all day, calling him by the nickname he hated most.
He was glad to have his freedom.
Until one day, boys from the class next door gathered to discuss who the prettiest girl at Huazhong was.
He heard Xiao Er's name.
The boy at the center of the group laughed. “Zhou Sui really is pretty. She's delicate, soft, and obedient. It's just a shame she's deaf. Otherwise...”
Shen Jinye clenched his fists, his eyes darkening. By the time he came to his senses,
his fist had already smashed into the boy's face.
The once carefree, unruly, cold-tempered boy had gone berserk, his slender fingers gripping the other boy by the collar.
His eyes were bloodshot, his jaw set in a fierce line. His fists flew one after another.
“Fuck, who the hell gave you permission to talk about her like that!”
*
In their senior year, two of the most unbelievable things happened at Hanhua No. 1 High School.
First, Shen Jinye, the young master of the Shen family and the most untouchable boy at Huazhong, had a close-cropped haircut, black hair, and silver earrings. He was good at everything except studying.
His flawless face earned him the title of campus heartthrob.
His bad temper, unruly nature, and coldness had left countless girls in tears after they confessed to him.
Then one day, he suddenly turned over a new leaf.
He tossed his cigarettes, started paying attention in class, and wore his uniform properly to cover the black tattoo at his collarbone. The ferocity in him faded away.
Second, the little follower of the demon king, the pretty girl with hearing loss who wore hearing aids
and showed two dimples whenever she smiled, suddenly disappeared without a word.
She became taboo in Class Three, and throughout Huazhong.
No one dared mention her name in front of Shen Jinye again.
*
Shen Jinye had a childhood sweetheart, a pretty, kind, sweet-tempered, and exceptionally obedient girl.
Her mother worked as a maid for the family, and she came to the old house with her mother. She and Shen Jinye grew up together.
Unfortunately, she suffered from a serious hearing disorder.
Shen Jinye didn't like this childhood sweetheart. He didn't like her gentle, timid nature.
He didn't like how she was so silly and obedient, always nodding and softly saying yes to anything he asked her to do.
He thought that if someone sold Xiao Er, she'd probably be unable to count the money properly even while helping them.
The rebellious teenage boy was arrogant and unruly. The words he said most often were: “Xiao Er, can't you stop following me?”
Later, Shen Jinye thought more than once that if he could turn back time, he would never have blocked her number that day.
He would never have snapped at her just because he was in a bad mood and left her alone in the classroom.
And he would never have said those words, all for the sake of a little pride that meant nothing during adolescence:
“You mean Zhou Sui? How could I ever like a deaf girl?”
But time would never turn back.
And in the end, the arrogant demon king broke his pride for his Xiao Er.
[From school to the city]
1. I just threw together the first version of the blurb... I'll really revise it! The core character setup and trope won't change.
2. Fall in love with the close-cropped-hair hunk all over again, ovo.
3. The cover shows our Young Master Shen before he got his close-cropped haircut. Thanks to my wonderful bestie for drawing it!
(The teddy bear bandage on his neck was swiped from Sui Sui by someone.)
