[Big-hearted, naturally airheaded, universally adored bottom X black-hearted, manipulative celebrity actor villain top]
Ying Er was a college student with a flexible job, barely making ends meet by collecting rent from an apartment building his grandfather had left him.
The apartment was in a beautiful setting and had cheap rent. It sounded like a perfect place to live.
Except for one thing: none of the residents were human.
*
Every day, Ying Er was run ragged by his fussy tenants.
He had to go to the market first thing in the morning to buy fish and shrimp. The merfolk chief living in the swimming pool only ate fresh food.
The lint roller was out of tape again. The werewolf clan leader on the second floor shed badly before the full moon.
Roses and milk needed restocking. The elf prince on the top floor had refined tastes, and even his bath had to be just right.
Oh, and he couldn't forget the vampire lord in the basement. He had to bring him a cup of blood to drink before bed, by noon.
Though his tenants were difficult to please, Ying Er was still very grateful to them.
His unusual constitution tended to attract evil creatures from other worlds, and whenever he ran into trouble, these gentlemen were the ones who helped him out.
*
Until one day, a human knocked on the door, which bore a sign reading "Everyone except humans welcome."
The pale young man was drenched by the storm. Gripping Ying Er's clothes, he whimpered, "I have nowhere to go. Please, could you take me in?"
Ying Er's heart softened. Though he knew the young man was only an ordinary human, he still let him in.
"If anything happens, call me. Don't go wandering off on your own," Ying Er kindly warned him.
Zhong Mo lowered his long lashes with a pitiful look, hiding the frenzied obsession in his eyes. "Thank you, Mr. Landlord."
*
Ying Er sincerely thought taking Zhong Mo in had been a wise choice.
The young man was grateful and stuck to him all day, helping with tedious household chores.
Still, Ying Er couldn't understand why the other tenants didn't like this gentle, kind young man.
In fact, they seemed rather afraid of him.
*
Disasters struck one after another in the other worlds, forcing the tenants to return home and deal with them.
The usually lively apartment building was left with only Ying Er and Zhong Mo.
Zhong Mo fearfully threw himself into Ying Er's arms. "They're all gone. What if the bad guys come back?"
Ying Er comforted him. "Don't be afraid. I'll protect you."
Zhong Mo hugged him even tighter, nuzzling him gently. "Mr. Landlord, you're so good to me."
But the evil creatures who came to trouble Ying Er this time were far more terrifying than the ones he usually encountered.
*
On the night of the blood moon, the undead drifted everywhere and poisonous snakes slithered, hissing.
Great demons crawling out of the lava surrounded the apartment building, leaving no way out.
Powerless to fight back, Ying Er was dressed up by the witches as the prettiest human doll and offered to the Lord of Hell.
A pair of enormous black wings spread open with a whoosh. Zhong Mo slowly turned around, his pitch-black eyes splitting open to reveal golden slit pupils.
In that same soft, harmless voice, he said, "I've finally caught you, Mr. Landlord."
