Mu Wang is only just past twenty! His entire family has just been slaughtered, and he is wandering the world, at the lowest point of his life!

"Come on! I know where we can escape!" Quan Ling rushes forward without a second thought and grabs his wrist. "If you die, I won't live either!"

A flicker of confusion crosses the handsome young man's face.

...Did she come for me?

At first, Mu Yuncheng thinks she is like the people in the imperial palace, trying to pry the whereabouts of a hidden treasure from him. But he gradually realizes that Quan Ling doesn't care about any of that. All she wants is to cure the chronic illness he has suffered from since birth.

Together, they work tirelessly and finally manage to make two Returning Origin Pills.

"Here," she says happily, handing him one. "When you wake up, everything will be all right!"

He follows her instructions and goes to sleep. When he wakes, his whole body is restored and he feels better than ever. But Quan Ling has vanished overnight. He kills every enemy and turns the world upside down, yet he can't find even the slightest trace of her.

So... she doesn't belong in this world.

Was it only for the Returning Origin Pill?

Back in the modern world, Quan Ling has finally saved her mentor, but discovers that their world's timeline is irreversibly collapsing. Everything is because Mu Wang's fate has changed.

For some unknown reason, he suddenly turned against the entire world, slaughtered countless enemy soldiers, and finally died, pierced by thousands of arrows.

"I have to go back." Quan Ling runs her fingers over the words, her fingertips trembling uncontrollably. "I have to save him."

When Quan Ling appears before Mu Yuncheng again, three years have passed for him.

He stands before a mass grave about to be filled in, his eyes blazing with frenzied obsession, his face caked in blood so thick it seems impossible to wash away. Even his fingers tremble with excitement.

"Lingling," Mu Yuncheng says with a soft laugh. "You're back."

One-on-one romance, happy ending (the heroine stays in the past), both are each other's first, guaranteed sweetness (with the occasional little angst for the hero). The hero does many bad things for the heroine, but never hurts her (he doesn't dare go crazy in front of his wife in case she dislikes him, Orz).

"She won't let me go mad, so I won't. I went to all that trouble to seize the world just to make her smile."
