The Corrupted Immortal Venerable Helps Me Through My Tribulation of Love

[Written September 16, 2021]

Xuan Ling is a famous playgirl in the immortal realm, with so many admirers she can barely keep track of them.

Immortal Venerable Xing Yuan is a famously beautiful man in the immortal realm: powerful, handsome, cold, and vindictive.

Xuan Ling falls for his peerless good looks and, on impulse, strings him along before dumping him.

Xing Yuan remains expressionless. After retreating into seclusion, he files a complaint with the Heavenly Court, accusing Xuan Ling of 108 offenses. From then on, they become sworn enemies.

The playgirl's punishment is to be sent down to the mortal realm to undergo tribulations. Only by devoting herself wholeheartedly to her destined partner for an entire lifetime can Xuan Ling return to the heavens.

And so...

In her first life, she's a beautiful concubine x an impotent old prince. Lonely and miserable, the concubine seduces a cold, unhinged crown prince. She dies.

In her second life, she's the village belle x a poor scholar. The scholar leaves to take the exams and never returns, so the village belle sets her sights on a cold, obsessive schoolteacher. She dies.

In her third life, she's a royal princess x a consort chosen through a marriage contest. But the consort is a woman disguised as a man, so the princess angrily flirts with a sickly, lovesick general. She dies.

In her final life, she transmigrates into a little maid sold into a prince's household. The disabled, sickly prince keeps her locked in the manor for the rest of her life. Only when he marries her just before they die is this convoluted romantic tribulation finally over.

Exhausted, she returns to the immortal realm, only to find Xing Yuan, now smiling at her: the unhinged crown prince, the schoolteacher, the lovesick general, the disabled prince.

Xing Yuan: "I went to all that trouble to help you through your tribulations. Why won't you thank me, Immortal Maiden?"

Xuan Ling: "...What?"
