After the heavenly tribulation, peace settles over the Six Realms. Huai Qing retires after accomplishing his mission, leaving a letter behind as he prepares to slip away without a word, but someone unexpectedly renders him unconscious.

When he wakes, he finds himself tied up in a beautifully crafted golden cage, bound with the very vine whip he gave Xie Yu.

Xie Yu sits by his bed, his expression dark.

Huai Qing flies into a rage. "You ungrateful disciple! Is this any way to use a sacred treasure?!"

"Master gave me this, so you must have wanted us to be together forever," says the usually obedient, quiet disciple, his expression transformed and his gaze obsessed.

He smiles sinisterly. "As your disciple, how could I disappoint your good intentions?"
