One Person, One Cat

I'm filling in the gaps in this story whenever inspiration strikes~

The main idea is a retirement-life simulator for someone who quit their job~

I quit my job.

I adopted a long-haired calico cat.

I went back to the countryside, where my grandma has a two-story house, a courtyard, an orchard, a vegetable garden, a pond, rice paddies, and a hill behind the house.

Rolling hills stretch along the side of the house. A mountain spring bubbles out from deep within them, winds around the house into a stream, and eventually flows into a river.

This is my home. I'll grow old here.

One Person and One Cat, also known as My Ideal Retirement. From the cat's point of view:

The Nonhuman Administration's transformation exam is cruel indeed. Demons have to work in the human world for three months and remain mentally stable in order to pass.

How can anyone work without going crazy? You just have to pretend!

The cat demon Lihua was physically and mentally worn down by the second month of working around the clock. Utterly dispirited, she planned to give up on her century-old dream of taking human form and retire in the mountains.

Then, that very day, she found a destitute human who had been laid off on the street.

Poor human. So this is how they've been living all along. No home, no family, getting up before dawn every day to travel dozens of kilometers to work, laboring from sunrise to sunset just to earn enough for a meal.

A cat can always go back to the village, but what is a human supposed to do?

Unable to bear it, Lihua pulled the miserable human out of the rain and brought them home.

Human, city life is tough. Why not come back to the village with a cat? There are mountains and rivers, and this cat can catch mice to feed you!

Original blurb:

A destitute human who had been laid off and a stray calico met on a winter's night, on a city street.

When spring arrived, the person and the cat decided to leave the city and visit the countryside.

A grumpy old cat demon who failed her transformation exam * a world-weary young man who lost the will to live after clearing an infinite game

A story about two gloomy powerhouses retiring to the countryside to farm. It's not long. I've been working overtime a lot lately and feeling drained, so this is something I wrote to relax~
