(The main text is written in third person.)
I am a Tianqian, orphaned and wandering the mortal world, waiting to die.
On a snowy day in early winter, when I was ten, someone took me on as his disciple.
He wanted me to inherit his swordsmanship and become, like him, a righteous and impartial sage who cared for all under heaven.
I had no such ambition, but I nodded anyway.
After wandering the mortal world for so long, I hadn't seen such a simple-minded fool in ages. I was curious, so I wanted to see what he was like.
It was only later that I learned my sect was the Shengming Sect, famous for its strict discipline and its view of romantic love as taboo.
And my master was the model disciple molded by its strict rules.
Life on the mountain was monotonous and dull. Before long, I'd lost interest and wanted to escape down the mountain to keep living off whatever I could find and waiting to die.
Unfortunately, every attempt failed.
It wasn't until my ninth year in the sect that I saw the control hub of the mountain-protecting formation in my master's bedroom.
Break the control hub, and I could go down the mountain.
So, unable to give up, I waited until he went to the back mountain to meditate in seclusion, then pushed open the bedroom door.
The instant I stepped inside, a rich lotus fragrance swept over me.
I followed the scent and saw my master, drenched in sweat, lying on the bed.
My once unattainable, aloof and self-possessed master had his hands and feet bound.
His clothes were disheveled, his face flushed, and he was lost in a sea of desire, unable to control himself.
Self-loathing and longing flickered across his face.
The pure, proud, taciturn and aloof Daoist Venerable was, in private, a Di Kun who had to endure the onset of his heat.
The man on the bed parted his red lips. His eyes shimmered with tears as he looked at me, trembling.
Enchanted by the scene, I walked to the bed and reached out to brush the damp hair stuck to his temple.
Instead, he took my finger into his mouth.
In a weak, slurred voice, he said, "Help... help me..."
I didn't leave the mountain until dawn broke that night.
I thought I'd finally regained my freedom.
But days later, that proud and unyielding Daoist Venerable came looking for me, demanding I return and continue cultivating the path of a sage.
In a fit of anger, I attacked him again.
He called me a wicked disciple, but still didn't kill me.
So I began to harbor an evil desire.
I would drag him down into the mortal world and make him fall into lust.
I'd make him an ordinary person like me, tormented by love, hatred, anger, and delusion.
