Ling Yu transmigrates into a battle royale novel as a key supporting character, with all sorts of identities:
The adoptive father who dragged the male protagonist out of a mass grave
The substitute for the master's white moonlight
The cultivation furnace of the leader of the Joyous Union Sect
A hostage in the hands of the Demon Venerable
A pawn of the mortal emperor
The protagonist group also includes a universally adored protagonist who is at once the white moonlight, the chosen one, the biological son, and a walking golden finger.
As a mere tool character, Ling Yu's usefulness has been exploited to the limit by the author.
It's a story about six people, and Ling Yu is the busiest of them all, yet he can't even have a name.
Looking at this absurd plot, Ling Yu makes an immediate decision: if you don't go mad, you won't survive. He wants to die early and be reborn, escaping this world as soon as possible.
So, using his knowledge of the plot, Ling Yu starts stepping on landmines and doing everything he can to get himself killed.
Abuse the male protagonist
Defy his master
Humiliate the leader of the Joyous Union Sect
Insult the Demon Venerable
Offend the emperor
And that's not all. In front of a crowd, he even has to make advances on everyone's white moonlight, the protagonist.
He does every single reckless thing he can, and takes it to the extreme.
He thinks this will maximize everyone's hatred and free him sooner, but to his surprise, the result is completely different.
He doesn't become the villain. Instead, he becomes the white moonlight in everyone's eyes.
Ling Yu is speechless: Did you all put bleach in your eyes?
How could I possibly be redeemed after all that?
Only later does he realize that the world's storyline went off the rails long ago. The protagonist, once everyone's white moonlight, has become their black moonlight instead.
The protagonist is the biggest villain in the whole story.
The protagonist, now self-aware, has driven the entire protagonist group to become villains.
And Ling Yu, who boldly dared to make advances on the protagonist, has become someone who sacrificed himself for justice.
Ling Yu: I did so many terrible things, and I'm still not the villain?
The protagonist group: Of course you're not the villain. You're our salvation!
Ling Yu: ...Don't ask. I'm just moved.

The protagonist sweeps the hair falling over his cheek aside, revealing a face that looks innocent and harmless. He says meaningfully, "Master, you're quite the fascinating person. Why don't you try making advances on your disciple again, just like you did back then...?"
Ling Yu: ...
