Beneath the mask of a wealthy and flourishing society lies a rotten, mediocre core.
This society is like a luxurious, beautiful painting, except its paint is made from the blood of the poor.
The story begins on a rainy night and ends at daybreak.
Is this a story about turning over a new leaf and returning to the light?
No. At least, in this society, that's impossible.
One patch of weeds has been pulled out, but the tumor deeply embedded beneath it remains.
Even if it is removed, soon enough, "the wildfire never dies out, and the spring breeze makes it grow again."
What is our duty?
It isn't to completely turn the place we love into a land of purity. It's to do what we can to let everyone live happily and safely.
But how can empty platitudes and a surge of passion
possibly triumph over corrupt social conventions, dangerous human nature, and a cruel reality?
The author's rambling:
Things to know before reading:
1. Some things in this story are based on my own experiences, while others have been adapted from other events. However, everything has been changed, so please don't try to match it to real people or events.
2. The author is still young and hasn't experienced some things. I'll do my best to write them. If I get something wrong, tell me and I'll fix it. Internet trolls, please don't bother.
3. People read novels for fun, so please read with a level head.
4. There is no single protagonist in this story. It's an ensemble cast.
5. The society and time period are fictional. There's no point in overanalyzing them.
