[The companion novel set in the same world, The Interstellar Botanist's Archaeology, is currently being serialized. See below for the blurb.]
[Strong female lead, coming-of-age, ensemble cast, military, inspirational, epic-length, no golden finger, little time spent at the military academy, has a male lead, expansive setting, slow burn]
At the capital's military academy, everyone knew the talented, inspirational girl from a desolate planet. So when she switched from the elite Individual Combat program to the unpopular Exploration program, students and teachers alike were stunned.
Only the Exploration instructors were secretly delighted. At last, the Frontier Corps had a chance!
A long bridge stretches across the waves.
Her childhood friend gazed at her gently. "You want to become a science officer and join the Frontier Corps? Want to do research? I'll support you either way."
Jin Chen's gaze was resolute. "I just want to know where I came from."
Inter-Academy Tournament.
Her best friend beamed with pride. "I knew our Chenchen was the best! So what if you can't compete? You're going straight to being an instructor!"
Jin Chen remained calm. "Sparring, fighting, and teaching mechanical theory. That's a real technical job."
Alien beast invasion.
Her rival scolded her over the communicator. "You always fight like you don't care if you live or die. Can't you be a little more careful?!"
Jin Chen remained unmoved, piloting her mecha into another perilous strike. "Risk and reward go together. If you'd just told me everything sooner, I wouldn't have had to guess and investigate on my own. Stop wasting time. The Federation is counting on us to save it!"
"I will take control of my own fate. I will never put my life in someone else's hands."
"I will ensure that people from desolate planets have equal rights. I will make sure people with genetic defects are no longer discriminated against."
An orphaned girl from a desolate planet, with no one to rely on, tries to prove to everyone that hard work really can make a difference in a Federation dominated by powerful families. Though the road ahead is rough and full of hardships, she will never back down.
From an earnest, determined military academy student to a science officer and captain whose name is recorded in Federation history, Jin Chen never loses her innocent heart, devoting her life to fighting for the equal development of every star system in the Federation.
Bonus scene:
Who would have thought that the icy general, who keeps everyone at arm's length, would tie on an apron and cook at home?
He looked up at the visitor. The corners of his eyes softened with affection, and his fierce demeanor melted away. "Done with your morning workout? Come have breakfast."
Jin Chen was busy browsing her e-brain and only gave a casual reply. She sat at the table and finally closed it when she saw the exquisite plate of peach blossom pastries.
Jin Chen smiled, warm and animated. "No meetings today? Have you eaten breakfast?"
He shook his head.
"Then you should eat too." Jin Chen nudged the plate toward him.
Notes:
- This is a serious, epic-length novel in five volumes, part of the "Galaxy Era" series.
- This is the growth and adventure story of the heroine and her group. It focuses on careers, includes plenty of everyday life and some sweet romance, and is not a fast-paced wish-fulfillment novel.
- Nobody is romance-obsessed. The heroine is stubborn and tenacious, a genius at work but inexperienced in love. Please allow her time to grow.
- The setting is expansive, with all kinds of cosmic wonders, mysterious planets, and advanced technology, aiming to deliver an immersive interstellar adventure.
The companion novel set in the same world, The Interstellar Botanist's Archaeology, is being serialized. Its story takes place six years after the end of Science Officer and answers some of its lingering questions. Visit the author's page to check it out and add it to your collection~
Blurb:
Beichen Xinghuan was at her wit's end.
After years of struggling at alien excavation sites and in the lab, she had finally managed to keep the sign up for her unpopular Plant Archaeology research lab. How had she suddenly ended up in the crosshairs of all kinds of factions, at the center of their power struggles?
A rising Federation officer deliberately gets close to her. The founder of a biotech company acts ambiguously toward her. Someone even comes back from the dead for her.
Beichen Xinghuan was clearheaded.
She couldn't make sense of the political upheaval or the deadly maelstrom, but she knew she might be able to dig through the sands of history and find the crucial truth.
The truth behind the success or failure of the Federation's plan to explore star systems beyond its borders.
But Beichen Xinghuan was also conflicted.
It seemed she'd really fallen into a trap... the honey trap.
Theme: Venture into unknown star systems, expand the frontier, and promote balanced development across regions
I like this book very much. I am looking forward to it being released as a physical book. I can clearly feel the growth and tenderness of the heroine, and I can also clearly feel the clear structure of the author. I feel that the author is very solid in terms of science fiction, but is a little weak in terms of syndrome and treatment. I think the content of this book far exceeds the data shown. It may be a bug in Jinjiang. I hope the author will not be discouraged. I feel that there are too many bugs in some names/positions after Chapter 400. I suggest that the author has time to fix them. Looking forward to the extra chapter!
Author: How talented are you?
Before I read the main text, I saw DaDa's thoughts on starship materials. This is very rare. DaDa's writing is very simple and logical. Look at An Ning, come on!
Is your article too reflective of reality? It's really well written. The author is great [][][] Come on, come on, come on
"One billion" is a big thorn in the side of the author~
I carefully counted the numbers above five times and finally determined that it should be 10 billion.
Finish spreading flowers and wait for the extra chapter~
I don't quite understand this part. Wasn't it said that there were only four people at the meeting, but then there was a whole team?
After seeing Zuo Hua, I went to check it out. This predator is very nice.
Or maybe this is why stupid people are lucky?
Let's take a guess. Chenchen's parents are Shao Lansheng and Bing Wang. That alien planet may contain the gravity weapon that was eventually developed.
