After Dual-Phase Paradise returned to peace, the Immortal received a letter from Aha.
The invitation contained a long, baffling message. But since it was a note from an Aeon, the Immortal still brought the Narrator to the meeting place. Who knew they would suddenly arrive somewhere without any Aeons?
It was an uncharted planet. After just a few days there, the Immortal and the Narrator had already experienced a fantastical day trip featuring murder cases as an everyday occurrence, all kinds of cursed techniques blasting cities to bits, and Mafia members fighting with rings that burst into flames.
He looked at the message from the Trailblazer: "Mr. Immortal, your takeout is here. Where did you go? I can't find you."
The Immortal, whose food, clothing, housing, and transportation had all become major problems:
...He had no idea either! Which star system was Earth in?
In the end, a kind blond young man who happened to pass by brought him to the Metropolitan Police Department. In exchange for a place to stay, he somehow wound up as an unofficial police officer.
Just a few days into the job, the foremost Galaxy Ranger had fallen into a lie-flat life.
At this police department, full of friendly colleagues who were all smart as a whip, the Immortal was like a hamster in a sack of rice, bubbling over with happiness every day. It was nice not having to brave the elements with the Narrator. The local currency could be exchanged for Credits, enough to last a long time. He just missed home a little.
Being less free was fine. Aha would help exchange the money, and he could earn as much as possible while lying down...
...Right?
In his first month on the job, the Immortal encountered the Tokyo explosions.
In his third month, he ran into sorcerers blasting each other, and was even mocked by a white-haired kid. The kid was actually trying to take the Narrator away, too. Kids these days... I... You... Sigh!
In his sixth month, he went on patrol in Namimori and got sent into the future. At least the Narrator was okay.
In his ninth month, he obtained an item that could turn everyone back to normal. The Fool's Mask, which could return him to Dual-Phase Paradise, was stolen by people from Yokohama, and he was sent into an evil organization!
After constantly rescuing people, the Immortal had ground half his fangs to dust. He could only throw himself into investigating the evil organization's members. The list of members the Narrator dug up was a total hodgepodge, and there were so many familiar faces that he was itching to do something righteous again, like blowing the evil organization to smithereens:
The stubbly whiskey A, who looked like a villain: an ally of a good person
The long-haired whiskey B: a good person he knew from overseas
The capable and kind journalist: a good person who had helped the Narrator
The blond whiskey C, who also seemed like a villain: a good person!
The blond woman skilled in disguise: defection process loading
Looking at the intelligence before them, the Narrator couldn't help but comment:
For an organization this vast and meticulous to keep operating when half its key members have been taken over by undercover agents is even harder to believe than the Moon being missing from the sky, Dual-Phase Paradise having no laughter, or us having a million Credits in savings!
Immortal: You can leave out that last comparison.
◎Reader's Guide◎
1. Everyone in this story is friends. There is no romance or one-sided love, but there will be a group of colleagues doting on one person from all directions.
2. The police academy crew, Oda Sakunosuke, and Geto Suguru will be saved. The Rangers will return to normal, and everyone will survive here.
3. If anyone is out of character, that's on me. If a character seems too stupid, it's because the author isn't very bright. Please beat up my brain, not the Narrator or the boss!
4. My knowledge of the canon isn't great. I'm truly sorry if I get anything wrong; just consider it a headcanon.
Theme: Even in the darkness, a glimmer of light is sure to shine.
