The Khan Who Died in Battle Has Returned

The Han princess sent beyond the border to marry was as white as mutton fat and as timid as a rabbit. She was the pearl of the Great Emperor of Yan, the wife of the Turkic Khagan, and the Khatun of the steppe khanate. Ashina Lie lifted her chin with his knife. “ Tsk, so this is Father Khagan's new woman?” Lie was raised on a she-wolf's milk. Cold and gloomy, brave and skilled in battle, Lie could shoot an eagle through the eye with an arrow or cut a starving jackal's head off with a single stroke. Lie was the khagan's adopted son and the youngest warrior in the Turkic Khanate. People said he would become the greatest Turkic king. At the time, everyone respected him. Lie was framed by villains and died on the battlefield. Those who had once fawned over him scattered like startled birds and beasts, clustering around the true culprit. No one cared for Lie's tribe; they were left weak, lonely, and miserable. Without Lie, they were like sheep without a shepherd dog, fit only to be devoured by a pack of wolves. It was the Han princess who stepped forward. She cared for the widowed and orphaned, showed compassion to the old and weak, and sought justice for Lie's people. Though she looked delicate, she had a firm hand, and no one dared to cause trouble. Lie learned all this after he returned. He survived a mountain of corpses and a sea of blood, rebuilt his encampment, and declared himself khagan. He returned for just two reasons: One, revenge. Two, to marry her. Theme: All living beings suffer; each can only save themselves
