The Fourth Year After We Broke Up

I remember one year, on my ex's birthday, before we were together, we were out shopping when he saw a piece of clothing he liked. He thought it was too expensive and didn't buy it, so I bought it and sent it straight to him. I lied and said it was a prize from a brand's giveaway on Weibo, and he actually believed me.

Later, after we got together, we were both watching Reply 1988 around his birthday. I bought the director's cut CD from overseas as a gift. It came with two blind-box standees, so we each opened one to see who got luckier. He got Choi Taek on his first try, but I got the blowfish. He teased me for being unlucky for two whole months.

The last time we met, he gave me a postcard covered in well-wishes. I suggested we take a photo together as a keepsake, but he said no, there was no need to make it so formal, as if we really wouldn't see each other again. But as it turned out, we never did see each other again after that. I kept the postcard together with the blowfish standee. I still regret that we never took that last photo, even now, nearly four years later.

We spent a thousand days together. It feels like so much happened, and at the same time like nothing happened at all. So I'm writing down some of the little things I still remember. This is the seventh year since I met you, and the fourth year since we broke up.
