Written in script format. A Hogwarts Mystery fanfic.
The everyday and not-so-everyday lives of a bunch of rambunctious children at Hogwarts. The story spans about a year, from August 1987 to June 1988.
The protagonists... let's say the Ravenclaw girls. Corianne is the main one. No transmigration or rebirth; they're all local kids (crossed out) teenagers.
(The Cursed Vaults and some side-quest material are based on the fourth-year content in the mobile game Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery.)
Some of the teachers (September 1987 to June 1988):
Charms: Flitwick (Head of Ravenclaw)
Transfiguration: McGonagall (Head of Gryffindor)
Potions: Snape (Head of Slytherin)
Herbology: Sprout (Head of Hufflepuff)
Flying: Hooch
Astronomy: Sinistra
History of Magic:
Defense Against the Dark Arts: Black
Care of Magical Creatures: Kettleburn
Divination: Trelawney
Arithmancy: Vector
The others are basically never mentioned.
Familiar children at school who appear in the original series: Bill, Charlie, Percy (1), Tonks
There's also an unimportant new pairing: Regulus x an original female character.
About the title: It's taken from Shakespeare's play Much Ado About Nothing.
At first I wanted to use "Pride and Prejudice (Patricia the Pride and Severus the Stubbornness)" as the title, because the few scenes between Rakepick and Snape left a strong impression on me. For a while, I wanted to focus on the two of them, but when I looked back at the game's story, I realized they appear together very rarely, and don't appear individually that often either. In the end, I decided to focus on the kids.
As it happens, one of the couples in Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing starts out trading insults and refusing to give an inch. I read in a note about Shakespeare's plays that the pronunciation of "nothing" at the time was very close to "noting," so the title Much Ado About Nothing also suggests the double meaning of "noticing" and "overhearing leading to trouble." Eavesdropping is not only common in the play, it's crucial: it causes misunderstandings and helps clear them up. My story does have a few scenes involving overhearing, and the kids are certainly rambunctious. On top of that, it's written in script format, so I figured a title that seemed randomly chosen at first actually fit quite well.
I looked at a few plays for formatting ideas, but in the end I wrote it in whatever way felt comfortable. It's just for my own amusement, after all.
One final, unimportant note: Starting from the ending of my previous work, I know my intention to pair a professor with the heroine has become pretty obvious. But if I tag this as Snape x Corianne (a semi-original female lead) right now, anyone who comes for that might be disappointed, because the story is still a very long way from becoming a clichéd romance. Personally, though, I especially enjoy their interactions at this stage.
Theme: Happiness is wisdom, and wisdom is happiness.
Skye x Corian x Penny are actually quite easy to get along with.
The way the professor looks surrounded by velvet velvet is cute just thinking about it?
Do you plan to open a new book, sister?
Well, after reading the first chapter, it felt like I was not reading a novel but like a play from a primary school textbook. I felt a little uncomfortable.
Check in, card, card, card, card
I haven't been with my phone lately hehe
It's okay, sister, come on
Happy Valentine's Day, sister
Sister, come on, it's snowing really hard today
It's like a script, the actors read the lines the same way
