Dream of the Red Chamber: Daiyu's Stepmother Is a Princess

After wandering the mortal world as a ghost for ten years, Lin Hai was given a chance to be reborn. Looking at his daughter Daiyu, frail but alive and well, he decided that in this life, he would never throw his life away for the sake of repaying someone who had once recognized his talent. He would protect his daughter and keep her safe for the rest of her life. With her mother gone and no brothers or sisters to support her, Daiyu would face difficulties finding a suitable marriage. After much deliberation, Lin Hai finally decided to take a second wife. But it was hard to find a woman who could serve as the mistress of the Lin household and was also willing to become someone's second wife. Just as Lin Hai was at a loss, the Prince Yi's household unexpectedly approached him with a marriage proposal. * Having transmigrated into the body of the Princess of Songyang, who had lost her husband and son and died of grief, Yin Yuanning faced her parents and brothers and sisters-in-law gently persuading her three times a day. She could only give in: “I'll remarry, but I get to choose the man myself.” The Prince Yi and his wife were naturally happy to agree to this small request from their beloved daughter, who was finally willing to move on. But they never expected the man Yin Yuanning chose to be so... “Isn't he a little old? Besides, he was deeply devoted to his late wife, Jia. Wouldn't you be getting the short end of the stick?” “What's wrong with that? He can remember his late wife, and I can remember my late husband. Neither of us owes the other anything.” Yin Yuanning was already doing the math: Lin Hai wouldn't live much longer. Once he died, she'd be widowed twice over. Who would still urge her to marry again? She could raise Daiyu herself and wouldn't have to give birth to children. What a bargain! Lin Ruhai's age has been lowered slightly. Alternate setting, not the Qing Dynasty. Theme: Life is full of surprises.
