"Mahito!!!" A girl's yell rang out from the room, and the door opened as Mahito walked in.
"What's wrong, Xi?"
The girl turned to look at him and pointed at the wooden cabinet in front of her.
"Where's my Sanji figurine?"
"Isn't it right there?"
Behind a pane of glass, a little blond figure sat on a tiny lounge chair with one leg crossed over the other.
"Mahito, even though you're getting better and better at using your technique, there's one thing!"
The girl paused. "Normal figurines don't breathe, and they don't have body heat!"
Wakabayashi Xi had been planning to admire her first figurine, but then she noticed that it seemed to be breathing ever so slightly.
She opened the glass door, intending to take it out and get a better look. But the moment she touched it, she felt its warmth.
"Sorry. I broke it."
Mahito, about a head taller than the girl, lowered his gaze to the floor, looking just like a child who had done something wrong.
The girl sighed. She was about to say something, but then paused.
"Wait, you were in such a hurry to kill me this time... You weren't trying to keep me from finding out, were you?"
[Why was he in such a hurry to kill me this time? Judging by where it happened, it doesn't seem like he thought it through carefully.]
Mahito walked up behind Wakabayashi Xi and wrapped his arms around her neck.
"No. I just wanted to kill you."
