Three eras, three predicaments.
In 1940, Avro, born a Squib, crossed paths with Tom Riddle, who was still a student. Both were chasing power, and they tested and coveted one another.
In 1992, Astoria was bound by an arranged betrothal to Draco Malfoy. Outsiders saw only the glory of a pure-blood marriage. No one knew that a secret capable of overturning the wizarding world lay buried deep in her bloodline.
In 1994, Delphi arrived, carrying an obsession with resurrecting the Dark Lord. Their bloodlines were closely intertwined, yet their ideals pointed in opposite directions. Here, too, Delphi met Barty Crouch Jr., whose obsession matched her own. Two souls sinking into darkness were drawn to each other.
Three eras echoed in turn, the threads of fate winding ever tighter. Some were trapped in the chess game of the past, some struggled against the shackles of the present, and some wagered everything in an attempt to change the ending.
When the past, present, and a future thrown into turmoil collided, everyone had to make a choice: submit to the shackles of their birthright, or break free of fate and forge a path of their own.
This work is based on the original Harry Potter books and the official companion play, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. It does not break up any canon couples, and includes some spin-off characters. Most of the settings from the original works and Pottermore are respected. As this is fanfiction, it also includes some original interpretations. Please be understanding.
