Career Prospects for a Kindergarten School Bus Driver

Li Yang applies for a job as a kindergarten school-bus driver. All he has to do is pick up and drop off a bunch of little kids in the morning and evening. Meals and housing are included, and the job even comes with social insurance and a housing fund.

He thinks it’ll be an easy job where he can coast along.

On his first day at work,

little novice monks in kasayas line up to board the bus, press their palms together, and bow to him. “Amitabha. Thank you, benefactor.”

A swarm of tiny Taoists in miniature robes, clutching peachwood swords, squeezes aboard. “May the driver big brother enjoy boundless fortune and longevity!”

The little ones take good care of the only ordinary person in the entire kindergarten. Their gifts include, but aren’t limited to, a safety charm for getting the highest score on a test, scriptures won in a national novice monk competition, and prayer beads they secretly blessed together during lunch break instead of taking a nap…

The little ones sincerely hope their new driver big brother will be okay.

Then, during an outdoor lesson, they accidentally stumble into a demon lair and end up delivering takeout to the monsters. Ding! Your food is here!

The little ones burst into tears. The monsters drool.

An orange-yellow school bus comes rumbling up, and Li Yang, the sole ordinary-person seedling, punches the demons one by one, smashing them to pieces.
