This story takes place in Cangnan, the capital of the Eastern Wu Kingdom.
Six years ago, Qin Yu's father was killed in battle, and the responsibility of commanding the Qin army fell to her. As a woman every bit as capable as any man, Qin Yu spent three years pacifying the borders, and the Qin army grew stronger by the day.
Though successful in her career, Qin Yu had never married. Upon her return to court, the emperor betrothed her to Su Nuan, the daughter of the chancellor. Su Nuan was the woman Qin Yu had saved three years earlier. She had waited for Qin Yu for three years, and loved her just as long.
What Su Nuan never expected was that Qin Yu would return with another woman. Strong-willed by nature, Su Nuan had no intention of sharing a husband, so she decided to run away from the wedding. On the way, she was attacked, and a wandering hero rescued her. Her escape plan failed as a result.
After the wedding, unhappy with Qin Yu, Su Nuan often slipped away to join the hero in righting wrongs. Eventually, she discovered that the hero was her own husband, Qin Yu, who also discovered that she was a woman. Together, they exposed the conspiracy behind the battle six years earlier. Their harmonious marriage became a celebrated tale in Eastern Wu...
