Kou Junze was the only daughter of the Grand Tutor of the current dynasty. Exceptionally talented and beautiful, she was raised in seclusion and betrothed at a young age to Zhong Zichu, the second son of a great general. But Zhong Zichu went so far as to steal the betrothal gifts himself in order to break off the engagement.

On New Year's Eve, the Kou family estate was burned down, leaving no survivors. All signs pointed to the Zhong family, yet the authorities hastily closed the case and cleared them of suspicion.

After narrowly escaping an attempt on her life, Kou Junze was saved by the owner of a medical clinic. She assumed a false name, disguised herself as a man, and became a young physician, only to be abducted by Zhong Zichu and taken to his estate.

Kou Junze gave a cold laugh. Wasn't this just the perfect chance to kill Zhong Zichu and avenge her family?

Zhong Zichu had been betrothed since childhood to the Grand Tutor's only daughter. But his heart belonged to someone else, and he only wanted to break the imperial engagement so he could marry the woman he loved.

On New Year's Eve, the Grand Tutor's family was massacred. Free of the engagement, Zhong Zichu happily went to find Miss Wen, the woman he'd secretly pledged himself to, only to learn that she had died.

After that, he became even more reckless. He abducted the new young physician at the medical clinic and brought him back to his estate, simply because the young man looked so much like his beloved Miss Wen. He didn't care whether the physician was a man or a woman, as long as they could cure the poison of longing.

He thought it was just a story about a man abducting another man, but one day the seemingly frail young physician turned on him with hatred in her eyes and thrust a sword at him.

"Zhong Zichu, give me back my life!"

Note: This is a completely fictional setting. Don't overthink the official titles and such. Well, do think about them if you want; they're just there for the plot (covers face).
