[Inuyasha Fanfiction] I Came for You

Qi Xin has guarded the Sacred Tree since she was a child. For years, she hasn't been able to leave the island where the tree grows, let alone the spirit realm.

In her lonely, monotonous life, she often thinks back to those brief, happy days and her one and only human friend.

When she finally gets a chance to look through the lake at that world, she finds a half-demon by the miko's side.

"Maybe you don't need me anymore," Qi Xin thinks sadly, though she also feels a little relieved.

The next time she looks through that world, Qi Xin expects to see her friend surrounded by children and grandchildren, living happily. Instead, she sees a lonely grave.

Kikyo has been resurrected, but it seems she's lost everything.

Her younger sister has grown used to life without her, and has even let people shatter her body. Her lover has fallen for someone else, and even the Shikon Jewel she once guarded has a new protector. It seems it makes no difference whether she's there or not.

But she never imagined she would see her childhood friend again after so many years apart. More importantly, her friend hasn't aged at all, just like her.

"It's true that I'm not a demon, but what I am doesn't matter," Qi Xin says. "What matters is that I came for you."

P.S. This story doesn't bash Inuyasha or Kagome. Kikyo truly did love him. The author believes that if too many things about the original story were changed, the Kikyo Qi Xin warms wouldn't be the real Kikyo.
