Drifting with the Feeling

He’d never met a girl this peculiar.

She gave up the comforts of life abroad to come home and suffer,

and had a “silly” streak, with hardly a hint of guile.

Even when she got the short end of the stick, she thought she’d come out ahead.

Truth was, he’d been smitten from the moment he first saw her.

But she was off to the side, loudly singing the praises of “idealism.”

What? After she was done “playing around,” she was going to leave him behind?

No way! He had to keep her here. Any means would do!

She was a young lady back from overseas, home to spend her “vacation.”

Though she knew it was a bottomless abyss, she still bravely leapt in.

A top student turned into an idiot in the blink of an eye: what a world of difference.

Luckily, with the help of a good man, she managed to pull off a miracle.

Hey, actually, this boy next door was the real oddity.

A little old-fashioned, always trying to be tough, and constantly getting himself into trouble on her behalf.

The only question was whether he could keep his racing heart under control.

Turning all this into a memory would be easier said than done.
