What's Behind the Door?

After twenty-five years of having the luck of a king, Xia Er has one unlucky moment: he trips over his own feet in his living room and falls straight into a horror game.

But as a level designer, a horror-game level designer, an all-around horror-game level designer who can handle concept art, planning, modeling, and level design, he has always held his field to the highest standards...

Fog blankets everything. A bizarre room looms like a beast about to swallow its prey. His teammates cling to one another, trembling, certain they'll be dead any second.

Xia Er stands in front of the door and looks it up and down. “Dense fog, a creepy building, a locked room. Standard horror-game stuff. Boring.”

Clue by clue, they finally clear the game, and everyone weeps with joy.

Xia Er: “The emotional buildup was pretty good, but there are too many bugs, and the game mechanics have issues too.”

Teammates: “...?”

A melodramatic romance unfolds in a haunted, remote village.

Xia Er frowns. “The romance is so clumsy. Has whoever made this game ever even been in love?”

Teammates: “Please, just stop talking!”

At last, the male lead who keeps getting called out can't take it anymore. He enters the game himself and corners Xia Er. “If you think you can do better, then give it a try.”

Xia Er stubbornly lifts his chin. “Fine, I will!”

And so...

The two fall in love at a haunted night school, gaze at the stars on a mysterious mountain, turn a village expedition into a vacation, and transform a deadly battle royale into a little game of chasing love (not really).
