The truth was, he was a little proud. Those unimportant people didn't deserve to see his gentle, warm side.

Then the apocalypse came. Monsters called Sin-Eaters devoured and tore through humanity, and Chen Nian'an was separated from his only family member...

Chen Nian'an gave all his smiles to Number Seven, the filthy little "puppy" he'd picked up. It could eat and fight, was obedient and well-behaved, and had the combat prowess of a "Sin-Eater shredder."

Chen Nian'an taught it everything: how to soothe children, keep your guard up, and not act impulsively. Number Seven listened to everything: love Brother An, rein in its temper, and overstep its bounds.

Wait... was something wrong here?

To survive, Chen Nian'an was forced to become a savior.

Being a savior was a grueling job. He had to trade away a random memory to gain power. One day, he might even forget who he was.

Still, dissolving an immortal black monster with a wave of his hand was pretty cool.

But good things happen as long as you're alive, right?

The good thing was that his puppy had grown taller, tall enough to wrap its arms around the pale, gloomy savior. Its blue eyes brimmed with love. "Brother An, I'll remember what you've forgotten."

Chen Nian'an didn't push him away. His weary soul had finally found a place to rest. It took a careful listen to realize the sound he heard was his own heart beating wildly.

2. The early relationship is more familial, but later on, nobody can resist a straightforward puppy!

3. The early part is rather bleak. Occasionally, side characters show up to do a comedy routine and cheer everyone up. It's really not angsty at all, promise (sparkly eyes). Happy ending, one-on-one.

Note: The monster Sin-Eater shares a name with a monster in Final Fantasy XIV, but the settings are completely unrelated. It's just a coincidence.

Jiang Ban died and transmigrated into a book, becoming the cannon fodder bottom in a melodramatic romance novel between men.

The original character was the top's ex-boyfriend, responsible for eighty percent of the novel's melodramatic plot. He was the ultimate troublemaker, met a miserable end, and didn't even live to see the finale.

By the time Jiang Ban woke up, the story had reached the point where the original character was doing everything he could to ruin his relationship. The top had seen through his true nature, and a breakup was imminent. Once they broke up, the top could meet his true love.

The System put the script in front of him and explained that surviving wouldn't be easy. Jiang Ban, however, just couldn't understand the world of this novel.

He said, "...Aren't these all just paper people?"

Everything seemed so unreal to him that he couldn't care less. He watched everyone's joy and sorrow as if it were a farce.

The System: ? I've never seen such an arrogant transmigrator cannon fodder. Well, congratulations, you're a paper person now too.

Jiang Ban was outside the plot and couldn't act. He couldn't pull off the original character's skillful faux-sweet routine, so he had no choice but to follow the storyline and pat the top, the most handsome man in the whole book, though still a paper person, on the shoulder.

"Let's break up," Jiang Ban said lightly.

"No way," Xie Yitian, the paper person, replied, raising an eyebrow.

The script had changed. Jiang Ban could only sit back and wait for Xie Yitian to come to his senses one day.

He would come around eventually. The story's will said so, and the protagonist was just a paper person in a story. Jiang Ban yawned. But that night, as he lay in bed, he suddenly felt someone approach.

"I'm not a paper person," Xie Yitian said.

The top, Xie Yitian, was the perfect darling of the heavens, created by the author with a built-in harem magnet buff.

Unfortunately, that harem magnet buff did nothing for Jiang Ban. The transmigrator was too proud to even look at him, and said he was a paper person.

Xie Yitian became intrigued. He was determined to drag this transmigrator down from his divine pedestal, where he stood shoulder to shoulder with the Creator...

Everything came alive, and the world was no longer stagnant.
