//I think there's something unresolved in my heart, something I've never been able to say to you in person.//

1.
In her second year of high school, Si Ran volunteers to be “exiled” to Qingqiao, a remote northern city where she knows no one, so she can take her mother abroad for medical treatment. There, she unexpectedly meets Zhou Canglan, who has also been “exiled” to the city.
It takes them only one winter to go from casual acquaintances to sharing everything.
For once, Si Ran gets to experience the bittersweet feeling of a crush during her otherwise colorless teenage years, and enjoys a rare stretch of happiness.
Unfortunately, the good times don't last. After the college entrance exams, they go their separate ways, and Si Ran locks away her memories of Qingqiao at the bottom of a box, never mentioning them for years.
2.
Four years later, Si Ran receives a letter from Qingqiao.
Sender: Zhou Canglan
Return address: Qingqiao Letter Gallery
After reading the August letter over and over, Si Ran turns down an offer from the New Zealand Institute of Psychological Research and flies straight to Yuntai City.
She doesn't want to waste a miracle of love.
3.
After they get together, the two revisit the places they once knew, and Si Ran finds the letter from back then. It had a recipient, but no address.
The owner of the Letter Gallery no longer recognizes Si Ran, but recognizes Zhou Canglan at a glance.
“I remember you.”
With a smile in her eyes, Zhou Canglan explains to Si Ran, “Back then, I pestered the owner for a whole week, asking him to predict whether I'd succeed if I exiled myself here to pursue you.”
Si Ran: “What did he say?”
Zhou Canglan looks out the window. She remembers a rainy day much like this one, with passersby hurrying along the roadside. Usually so composed, she had been desperate for some reassurance about love when she learned that Si Ran had no choice but to go abroad.
Fortunately, she was lucky enough.
