Thirteen-year-old Jiang Ning met Cheng Wenyuan at a run-down middle school.
Cheng Wenyuan stood on the awards platform, even the tips of his hair shining.
Cheng Wenyuan was two grades above Jiang Ning, but he dazzled her for years to come.
He said, "You can't see a future here. Jiang Ning, I'll be waiting for you at Heyuan No. 1 High School."
He was Jiang Ning's goal, her idol, and the light she devoted everything to chasing.
