"How long can you like someone?" Wang Yumu asked the bartender, tugging at his sleeve as she swayed drunkenly.
"You've had too much to drink. Should I call your friends to come take you home?"
Wang Yumu slowly let go, lowered her head, picked up her glass, gazed into it, then downed the drink in one go. A tear slowly slipped from the corner of her eye.
Her hair fell loose around her shoulders, and her makeup was immaculate. She wore a wine-red dress, and the alcohol had given her cheeks a faint flush. She exuded an unintentional allure. Every gesture made people want to cherish her.
She put down her glass and staggered out of the bar. Reaching a set of steps, she sat down and gazed at the city's nightscape.
Tears streamed down her face. She opened her phone and saw Zhang Chuyang's post announcing his new girlfriend. Unable to hold back, she broke down sobbing. She couldn't understand why he'd broken his promise, or why he'd lied to her for so long.
Only after her voice had gone hoarse and she had no tears left did she get up, only to suddenly fall over.
She slowly got back to her feet and headed home.
That night, she had a dream. It was as if she had returned to that midsummer, when the boy in her memories was bright and pure. One afternoon, she watched him in PE class, and it felt as if nothing had changed. He was still gentle and refined, still courteous and polite...
